The Low Sugar, Gluten Free desert that won the Dr. Oz bake-off contest.

I thought it was so funny to be on the Dr. Oz show. It’s a pretty slick production over there, and it was fun getting the whole makeup/stylist/mic-ing treatment. He asked both myself and a terrific Philly girl with a gluten free blog to compete against each other with a low sugar desert and guess what???? I WON! I was pretty surprised because Jennifer’s entry (strawberry mouse) was AWESOME and I now have it as part of our desert options here at hohm. Charles has to have desert every day- even if we do eat totally clean, raw and real. Of course I don’t complain- I look forward to a sweet end to the day too.
Dr. Oz show: its (today) Thursday October 24th on ABC television. It airs twice in most cities, 12 noon, and 4PM here in New York. But if you miss it no worries: the recipe is right here. I’m going to get you a link to my new friend Jennifer Fugo and a new favorite website:

RECIPE – Raw GLuten Free, low sugar, HEALTHY KEY LIME PIE

2 Cups walnuts, cashews, pecans, chopped fine
4 – 6 medjool dates chopped fine
2 T coconut oil or coconut mana

mix in food processor or by hand and press into a pie plate ( I used a rectangular pan for the Dr Oz show)

3 avocados
juice of 4 or 5 limes ( depends how juicy they are)
1/2 Cup sticky raw honey ( the thicker the better)
2 T Lucuma Powder (optional, its a slightly sweet super food)
blend and beat well, fill the crust

1 cup of cashews plus 1/2 cup of macadamia nuts
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup coconut mana
1/4 plus a few tablespoons of raw honey or agave nectar. Start with 1/4 cup, then taste, adding more a tablespoon at a time until just right.

My neighbors have happy funny chickens so I have no problem with eggs lol
4-6 egg whites ( depends how large they are)
3 Tablesponns Lucuma Powder ( optional but a great superfood with lovely sweet taste)
2 Tablespoons of raw honey or agave.

Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in Lucuma Powder and chosen sweetener.

Top filling with the creamy topping. Garnish with fresh fruit: I used star fruit and blackberries for Dr. Oz.

FREEZE for 1 hour or more. Slice and enjoy.
